Today marks the 65th birthday of the man who defined the first seven years of the Loons in Major League Soccer. Adrian “Inchy” Heath, the first and only head coach of the club’s inaugural era, remains one of the most polarizing and passionate figures in Minnesota soccer history. While his departure in late 2023 was a difficult chapter for many fans, Heath has spent the last year transitioning into a legacy role that brings him full circle to the state where his American coaching journey began.
Following a period of reflection and several guest appearances on MLS Season Pass as a tactical analyst, Heath took on a leadership role in late 2025 with the Space Coast Pro Soccer initiative. Working alongside the United Soccer League (USL), Heath is a primary figure in the effort to bring professional soccer to Brevard County, Florida. For Heath, this move is a return to his roots in the Florida soccer landscape, where he previously built Orlando City from a USL expansion side into an MLS powerhouse.
While he remains a “Minnesota resident at heart” and maintains a home in the Twin Cities, his 65th year sees him back in the boardroom and on the training pitch, helping build yet another club from the ground up.
