Where are they now?: Nabi Kibunguchy
Today marks the 28th birthday of Nabi Kibunguchy, a player whose journey from the UC Davis campus to the professional ranks in Saint Paul showcased the potential of the MLS SuperDraft. A versatile defender with a massive 6’3” frame, Kibunguchy has spent the last year exploring the international landscape of football, taking his talents across the globe to Southeast Asia.
After spending two seasons within the Orlando City organization—where he became a staple for Orlando City B and earned a short-term first-team call-up in late 2023—Nabi made a bold move in the summer of 2025. He signed with Hougang United in the Singapore Premier League.
Since arriving in Singapore, he has quickly adapted to the technical and high-tempo nature of the league, featuring regularly in their defensive rotation. Beyond his club career, Nabi has also achieved a major personal milestone: earning his first senior international caps for the Kenya National Team. For Loons fans who remember him as a promising young center-back at the National Sports Center and Allianz Field, seeing him represent his heritage on the international stage while competing in a new continent is a fantastic next chapter in his professional story.
