Today marks the 23rd birthday of Maplewood’s own Devin Padelford. As the second homegrown signing in Minnesota United history, Padelford enters 2026 at a fascinating crossroads in his career, returning to his hometown club after a significant stint away.
After spending the latter half of the 2025 season on loan with St. Louis City SC, Padelford is back in Saint Paul for the 2026 campaign. His time in Missouri was highly productive; he earned consistent starting minutes and logged his first non-Minnesota MLS assist, proving he could thrive outside the comforts of his home state.
With Minnesota United exercising his contract option for this year, Padelford returns to Allianz Field not just as a “prospect,” but as a seasoned defender with over 50 MLS appearances under his belt.
Loons fans will be watching closely this preseason to see how Eric Ramsay integrates a more mature, battle-tested Padelford back into the defensive rotation.
