Venegas provides a late spark as Cartagines and Vancouver battle to a scoreless draw
CS Cartaginés and the Vancouver Whitecaps battled to a 0–0 draw on Wednesday night in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup Round One series.

The visiting Whitecaps controlled the tempo for much of the night at the Estadio José Rafael Fello Meza Ivankovich. Vancouver dominated possession, holding the ball for 76.5 percent of the match, and outshot Cartaginés 15–7.
Despite the heavy attacking pressure and a 5–0 advantage in shots on target, the Whitecaps were unable to find a breakthrough. Cartaginés goalkeeper Kevin Briceño stood tall to keep a clean sheet, ensuring the Costa Rican side heads to Vancouver for the second leg on even terms.
