Jaylin Mitchell joined Minnesota United as the 23rd overall pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft following a standout collegiate career at SMU. A dynamic and technically gifted forward, Mitchell became a focal point of the Mustangs’ attack during their inaugural seasons in the ACC. Known for his “finesse and forged skill,” Mitchell’s ability to navigate tight spaces in the midfield and final third made him one of the most exciting prospects in the 2026 draft class.
A product of the Slammers FC ECNL system in California, Mitchell arrived in Dallas and made an immediate impact, scoring SMU’s first-ever goal in ACC play against Pitt. His breakthrough sophomore season saw him earn ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors after netting a match-winner against No. 6 Saint Louis. Mitchell enters the professional ranks with a reputation as a “technically savvy” player who excels in possession-based systems—a perfect fit for the tactical direction under Eric Ramsay.
