Eric Dick

  • Years with Club: 2022 – 2023
  • Position: Goalkeeper

Eric Dick arrived in Minnesota in January 2022 via the MLS Re-Entry Draft, brought in to provide experienced cover for the goalkeeping union behind Dayne St. Clair and Tyler Miller. Standing at 6’5″, the Kansas native and Butler University alum had previously spent time with Sporting Kansas City and the Columbus Crew. During his two seasons with the Loons, he served primarily as the third-choice goalkeeper, a vital but often unseen role that involves keeping the starters sharp in training and staying ready for emergency call-ups.

Memorable moments

  • The Cup Start: His lone senior appearance for the club came on May 25, 2022, in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16. He started in goal against Union Omaha at Allianz Field. While the result was a disappointment for the club (a 1-2 loss), it was the only time fans got to see Dick in competitive action for the first team.
  • MNUFC2 Leadership: Dick played a key role in the early days of MNUFC2 (the club’s second team), providing veteran leadership to a squad of teenagers and academy prospects. In his three starts for the “Twos,” he kept two clean sheets, demonstrating the shot-stopping ability that would later define his career.

Where is he now?

Since leaving Minnesota, Eric Dick has arguably become the best goalkeeper in the American second division.

The Pittsburgh Renaissance (2024–2025):

After Minnesota declined his contract option following the 2023 season, Dick signed with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in the USL Championship, where his career skyrocketed.

  • 2024: He had a breakout season, winning the USL Championship Goalkeeper of the Year award and the Golden Glove (lowest goals-against average). He set a club record with 14 clean sheets in a single season.
  • 2025: He followed up his personal accolades with team glory, leading Pittsburgh to the USL Championship Title. He was named the Final MVP after a heroic postseason run where he kept four consecutive clean sheets in the playoffs.

Current status:

In December 2025, fresh off his championship win, he signed with Indy Eleven for the 2026 season. The move marks a homecoming for him, as he returns to his home state of Indiana to continue his career as one of the top goalkeepers outside of MLS.
