Chase Gasper was a foundational defensive pillar for Minnesota United during the club’s transition into a perennial MLS contender. A no-nonsense defender with a high work rate, Gasper embodied the resilient spirit of the “Wonderwall,” becoming the first true success story for the club via the MLS SuperDraft.

Joining as the 15th overall pick in 2019, Gasper quickly locked down the left-back position, starting 15 matches in his rookie season and helping lead the club to its first-ever U.S. Open Cup Final. Over the next three seasons, he became an ironman of the defense, rarely missing a minute and earning a reputation for his physical style of play and his ability to neutralize some of the league’s most dangerous wingers.

In May 2022, Gasper was traded to the LA Galaxy, marking the beginning of a veteran journey that saw him contribute to the Houston Dynamo and Chicago Fire. After seven professional seasons and an international cap for the USMNT, Gasper officially retired from professional football following the 2025 season to pursue a new career outside of the sport.

Signature Loon moment

Gasper’s legacy is defined by his performance in the 2019 U.S. Open Cup Semifinal against Portland Timbers.
