Alex Kapp was signed by Minnesota United in August 2017 after being selected by Atlanta United in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft but not signed by the expansion side. A product of the collegiate system, where he was named the Big East Goalkeeper of the Year while at Creighton, Kapp was brought in primarily to serve as the third-choice goalkeeper for the Loons during their early MLS seasons. He spent the majority of his tenure working within the goalkeeping union but found opportunities limited by the established keepers ahead of him on the depth chart. The club declined his contract option following the 2018 season.
