His rookie season was a massive success, as he finished as the runner-up for the MLS Rookie of the Year award. However, his time in Minnesota was frequently interrupted by chronic hamstring issues that prevented him from consistently staying on the field. After leaving for Nashville SC in the expansion draft, he made a surprise return to Minnesota in 2022 for a second stint, offering depth to the attack he once led.

  • The first start: Danladi announced his arrival to the league in style on May 7, 2017.   • The rookie sensation: Despite the team struggling defensively in their inaugural year, Danladi was a bright spot. He scored 8 goals in his rookie campaign, including crucial strikes against Chicago Fire and Montreal Impact, showcasing the potential that made him the number one pick.

Where are they now?:

After his second stint with the Loons, Danladi took his career abroad before returning to the American lower divisions.

  • The European detour: Following the 2022 season with Minnesota, Danladi moved to Europe to play for KF Bylis in the Albanian Superliga for the 2023 season.
  • Return to the US: He returned to the United States in 2024, signing with New Mexico United in the USL Championship. He made several appearances for the club during the 2024 season but struggled to find consistent minutes. As of late 2025, he is currently a free agent.
