Where are they now?: Franco Fragapane

Today marks Franco Fragapane‘s 33rd birthday.

For four seasons, Franco Fragapane was the engine that never stopped running in the Minnesota United midfield. Today, the diminutive Argentine winger is celebrating his birthday back where he first made a name for himself: home in Argentina, wearing the red and white of Unión Santa Fe.

Where is he now?

He is preparing for a match in Santiago del Estero.

Fragapane’s birthday coincides with a matchday. Tonight, he and his Unión teammates are in northern Argentina to face Central Córdoba in a crucial Primera División clash.

  • The return home: After his contract with Minnesota United concluded following the 2024 season, “Fraga” returned to Unión Santa Fe in January 2025. It was a homecoming for the winger, who had previously starred for El Tatengue from 2017 to 2019 before his moves to Talleres and then MLS.
  • The role: Now 33, Fragapane remains a key figure for Unión. While he may have lost a half-step of pace, his work rate and tactical intelligence are as sharp as ever. He operates primarily as a wide playmaker, tucking inside to create overloads and allowing the fullbacks to overlap—a role familiar to Loons fans.
  • The legacy: He left Minnesota as a fan favorite, known for his relentless pressing and ability to score clutch goals. He made over 100 appearances for the Loons, helping the club reach the playoffs in consecutive seasons during his tenure.

So, while he isn’t at Allianz Field anymore, he’s doing exactly what he loves on his special day: chasing a ball for 90 minutes.
