Deportivo Cali delivered their most complete performance of the 2026 season on Sunday night, dismantling league leaders Deportivo Pasto 3–0 at the Estadio Deportivo Cali. Former Minnesota United star Emanuel Reynoso started the match and played just over an hour, helping orchestrate an attack that overwhelmed the visitors in the first half.
Match recap
Deportivo Cali came into the match needing a result to climb the table, and they wasted no time asserting their dominance. Juan Ignacio Dinenno opened the scoring in the 12th minute, finishing off a move that set the tone for the evening.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 27th minute through Steven “Titi” Rodríguez, who capitalized on Cali’s sustained pressure. The 2–0 halftime lead was well-deserved, as Cali controlled possession and stifled Pasto’s counter-attacks. Rodríguez added his second goal of the night in the 74th minute, sealing the 3–0 victory and ending Deportivo Pasto’s unbeaten start to the campaign.
Reynoso’s performance
Emanuel Reynoso was named in the starting XI by manager Alberto Gamero, operating in his preferred playmaker role.
- The shift: Reynoso played 62 minutes before being substituted for Ángelo Hurtado as the manager looked to refresh the midfield and protect the lead.
- First-half friction: “Bebelo” was heavily involved in the physical battles of the first half. In deep stoppage time before the break (45+6′), he was shown a yellow card after a confrontation with Pasto’s Andrey Estupiñán following a foul.
- Orchestrating the attack: While he didn’t register a goal or assist on the night, Reynoso’s ability to find pockets of space helped Cali transition quickly, allowing Dinenno and Rodríguez to isolate the Pasto defenders.
