Where are they now?: Finn McRobb
Today marks Finn McRobb‘s 24th birthday, a milestone that finds the Scottish defender settling into a new home in Tennessee after a whirlwind two years in the American lower divisions.
For the Minnesota United faithful who closely follow the developmental pipeline, Finn McRobb was a recognizable figure in the MNUFC2 backline during the 2024 campaign. A towering center-back with a pedigree from the Celtic FC academy, McRobb brought a physical edge and aerial dominance to Blaine. As he celebrates his 24th birthday tomorrow, Jan. 30, let’s look back at his time in the “Twos” and track his journey since leaving the organization.
The Loons years (2024)
McRobb joined MNUFC2 in March 2024 following a standout collegiate career at High Point University, where he was the Big South Defensive Player of the Year. He immediately became a cornerstone of the “Twos” defense, making 24 appearances and scoring one goal.
His performances were consistent enough to catch the eye of the first-team staff. In June 2024, amidst a congested schedule and international absences, McRobb signed a short-term agreement with the MLS squad, appearing on the bench but never officially logging first-team minutes. Despite the lack of an MLS debut, his leadership at the MLS NEXT Pro level was instrumental in stabilizing a rotating developmental squad.
Life after Blaine
Following the 2024 season, McRobb departed Minnesota to test himself in the USL Championship, the second tier of American soccer:
- Indy Eleven (2025): McRobb signed with the Indianapolis-based club in February 2025. His time in the Championship was a learning experience; he made 10 appearances across all competitions, struggling to lock down a permanent starting spot in a veteran-heavy defense.
- One Knoxville SC (2026): Seeking more consistent playing time, McRobb made a move just weeks before his birthday. On Jan. 14, 2026, he officially signed with One Knoxville SC of USL League One.
Where is he now?
As of his 24th birthday, Finn McRobb is currently in preseason training with One Knoxville SC.
The move to Knoxville represents a fresh start for the 6’3″ defender. Dropping down to USL League One offers him the chance to be an every-game starter and regain the dominant form he showed during his college days. Now entering his prime years as a center-back, McRobb will look to anchor the Knoxville backline when their season kicks off in March.
