Where are they now?: Calum Mallace

Today marks a double celebration for Calum Mallace: not only is it his 36th birthday, but 2026 also marks his induction into the Marquette “M Club” Hall of Fame. For fans of the Minnesota soccer scene, the name Mallace is synonymous with local grit and professional success, and Calum’s journey from Mendota Heights to the heights of the CONCACAF Champions League remains a standout story in our alumni ranks.

After retiring from professional play in 2019 following a stint with Austin Bold FC, Mallace wasted no time transitioning into the technical side of the game. He has steadily climbed the collegiate coaching ranks, serving as an assistant at Northwestern and Loyola Chicago before making an emotional return to his alma mater, Marquette University, in 2024.

Today, he serves as an assistant coach for the Golden Eagles while also pulling double duty as the head coach of Bavarian United SC in USL League Two. His induction into the Hall of Fame this year is a fitting tribute to a man who has dedicated his life to the pitch, both as a midfield general and now as a mentor to the next generation of talent.
